Intraoral Cameras
The team at Dallas Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, uses intraoral cameras where necessary.
Intraoral cameras are used to get another, more substantial look at the dental work that needs to be completed in any particular case. They are used to help with various procedures to get a good impression of the patient’s mouth from the inside. They record both an intraoral and extraoral perspective of your teeth using video technology.
For a brief history, intraoral cameras were first introduced in the late 1980s and have been used widely in dentistry ever since. They have replaced the simple dental mirror that we used to use in our offices. They can be used to show the patient the view of the interior of their mouth just as our surgeons would see it. This way, it is easier for us to explain the extent of any complications with the teeth or any of the procedures that would need to be performed. The picture from the imaging process is of a high quality, so it is obvious to both us and the patient what dental work needs to be utilized.
The camera that is used in the intraoral recording is very small, which means that the entire procedure is comfortable for the patients and does not feel so invasive. Images can also be stored in the patient’s profile for use in future dental work that may need to be conducted.
Affordable Technology
This technology is not overly expensive to purchase, and as such, there is no extra cost to use it during your dental exams. We allow its usage during most dental exams so that the patient may know exactly how we will proceed with their procedures. We can also look back on the images once the patient has left our office to help ensure that we proceed in the best way possible.
For your next dental exam, or if you are looking at getting some dental implants done at our clinic, we highly recommend the use of the intraoral camera as it gives the most accurate and best quality images which can be seen by both our surgeons and yourself as the patient. They can also be analyzed at a later date, and although they do not give as much substantial information as any 3D imaging which is now available, they are the quickest and easiest form of imaging for the usual dental exam.
We offer several types of dental imaging which are suitable for a wide variety of dental procedures. Intraoral cameras give a good view of the internal and external features of the mouth. They are also very affordable and widely accessible in the dental industry in general. You may experience this procedure at our dental clinic, and you will see the benefits of this dental imaging style for yourself.
