Types Of Cosmetic Surgeries

There are some oral and maxillofacial surgeries designed to improve the cosmetics of your smile and face. According to the AAOMS, some of these treatments include:

•  Jaw Surgery
•  Chin Surgery
•  Ear Surgery
•  Facelifts
•  Facial and Neck Liposuction
•  Botox Injections
•  Laser Treatment
•  Injectable Fillers
•  Lip Enhancement
•  Rhinoplasty

Some of the most common cosmetic surgeries we provide include gum re-contouring, dental implants, and reconstructions after facial trauma. During your consultation appointment, Dr. Gannon, Dr. Lee and Dr. Sherry will discuss your possible treatment options. The type of cosmetic surgery you receive is usually dictated by your individual needs and desires.

Gum Re-Contouring

While your teeth are center stage, a beautiful smile is all about balance and aesthetics. Some patients are born with an excessive or uneven amount of gum tissue, often referred to as a “gummy smile.” A gummy smile can make your teeth appear smaller than they should.

We specialize in gum re-contouring to help improve the balance between your teeth and gums. During the procedure, you will receive a small dose of local anesthetic to numb the area and eliminate discomfort. We also offer sedation dentistry for patients with fears or anxieties associated with dental care.

Next, we will use a soft tissue laser or scalpel to remove a small amount of your gum tissue. This procedure is also known as crown lengthening. Even if only one tooth needs a crown lengthening, the procedure usually involves the surrounding teeth as well. This allows us to produce a more balanced and symmetrical appearance.

Dental Implants

A missing tooth can affect both the function and appearance of your smile. This can lead to issues with your self-esteem, self-confidence, and mental health. We offer dental implants as a way to replace one or more missing teeth. Restoring your smile can give you back the ability to properly chew and speak. It can also restore your confidence and boost your self-esteem. Your new implant-supported restoration will look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth!

Facial Trauma

Facial trauma can occur as the result of a sports injury, car accident, fall, or work-related incident. Depending on the nature of your facial trauma or injury, you may need cosmetic surgery. Soft tissue injuries like lacerations may require sutures. Injury to the underlying bone may require more extensive surgical options. If you suffer facial trauma, cosmetic surgery can help get your face, smile, and self-confidence back on track!
