Digital X-Rays

Here at Dallas Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we use a wide range of modern techniques. One of the most important processes we utilize is the use of digital x-rays to help us get a thorough image of the patients’ teeth and bone.

In recent times, the use of digital x-rays has become much more prevalent as a great deal of oral surgery treatments require increased visibility for proper diagnosis.

While placing a dental implant, for example, it is important to take digital x-rays between steps. This ensures that the implant is entering the ideal location in the jawbone and remains on track throughout the procedure. It is also important for our surgeons to see how deep the implant is going to reduce the risk of delving too far into the jawbone.

Including digital x-rays into procedures is important. Although it does add some additional time, it ensures the best accuracy when performing procedures. The additional time and effort that goes into using digital x-rays are worth it, as we want to make sure that you have the best experience and outcome possible at our practice.

Instant Images

The main differences between regular film x-rays and the newer and more modern version, the digital x-ray, is that digital x-rays can appear on the screen before you in seconds. This is in addition to the fact that they emit reduced radiation. Digital x-rays reduce radiation by up to 80%, making them much safer for both yourself and our staff. The imaging is also much clearer, making for a more accurate diagnosis when performing the implantation. The conventional dental film in comparison provides images of much poorer quality with a lower resolution, which makes them inferior to their digital counterparts.

When looking at the pros and cons of the two types of x-rays available, it is clear that digital is nearly always the better option in this day and age. This is because it gives the most accurate information promptly. Here at our clinic, we would not recommend anything else in place of digital x-rays when it comes to dental implants. We pride ourselves on giving all of our clients access to the most up-to-date technology when we are sure that it far exceeds the previous technologies in use. Part of ensuring our customers get the best experience in every aspect involves staying up-to-date with the current technologies in all aspects of dentistry. Digital x-rays are, for many reasons far superior to anything used in the past and are widely accessible.
