All-on-4 Dental Implants: Avoid a lengthy wait time to achieve an attractive smile

Oct 24

Losing your natural teeth is bad enough, but waiting for weeks to replace them can be unbearable. Going toothless, even for just a few weeks, affects your self-esteem and your well-being. You may be able to wear an ill-fitting temporary appliance in the interim, but often those devices are so uncomfortable that some patients prefer to go without anything at all.

All-on-4 dental implants offer a better solution to edentulous patients who want to restore a normal appearance as quickly as possible. Actually, patients who opt for this treatment will get a new smile in just a few hours with the oral surgeon.

All-on-4 involves a quartet of dental implants that are inserted toward the front of the patient’s jawbone. The two outer implants are often angled beneath the gumline so that they are still an option for patients with posterior jawbone atrophy.

The All-on-4 surgery takes just a few hours in the oral surgeon’s office, and the prosthetic arch can be loaded atop the implants as soon as they are placed. Patients leave the visit with a brand new smile.

With All-on-4 implants, your oral surgeon also has access to three-dimensional modeling software that helps to make the planning process more efficient and effective. It also allows the surgeon to operate in a minimally invasive fashion, speeding up the healing timeline, too.

In addition to the quick turnaround time, the All-on-4 approach gives patients all of the benefits typically associated with dental implants. All-on-4 implants are more stable and durable than conventional dentures, which need to be refitted periodically as the jawbone wears away. The implants eliminate the need for dental adhesives and feel more like natural teeth. Because the prosthetic arches stay in place, it’s also easier to chew with them.

All-on-4 dental implants are a good solution for patients who need to replace an entire arch of missing teeth.

Can I Replace Both Lower and Upper Teeth With All-on-4?

Jun 26

Even a single day of living with poorly fitting dentures can feel like an eternity. The discomfort of a slipping, sliding upper or lower denture can ruin your day and disrupt even the most pleasant disposition. The insecurity of speaking with a denture that clicks or slurs your speech can be humiliating.

Today, there are fantastic alternatives to traditional dentures. Many of these solutions, such as the All-on-4 alternative, can be completed in as little as a single day. You can begin to experience life with a full set of attractive and stable teeth as soon as possible.

Using the latest in dental technology and digital imaging, your oral surgeon can customize a complete smile that fits well, feels natural, and looks amazing.

The All-On-4 denture can be used to replace the upper teeth, the lower teeth, or both. In fact, the technique can be used to enhance and modify your existing denture or an entirely new set can be designed just for you.

The concept of using just four dental implants as a platform for a complete denture has proven to be successful in both the upper and lower arches. Even patients who have lost a significant amount of bone structure can still be great candidates for the procedure.

By precisely positioning a set of titanium implants into the jaw bone, your oral surgeon can create a strong and secure foundation to support your dentures. A denture that is anchored to the underlying bone rather than the gum tissue can provide you with a lifetime of comfortable chewing and confident speaking.

The permanent bond between the bone and the implants means that shifting or sliding will be problems of the past. Clicking dentures as you eat and speak will no longer be a concern. Denture adhesives, glues, pastes and gels will be absent from your shopping list since the stability of your new smile will remain constant.

All-on-4 dental implants: Am I a candidate?

Dec 1

All-on-4 DallasIn edentulous, or toothless, patients, the jawbone atrophies when the teeth’s roots are no longer present to stabilize it. As a result, long-time denture wearers or other patients whose teeth have been missing for years may experience significant bone loss that presents a problem for dental implant candidates.

Dental implants fuse with the jawbone, so in order for them to succeed, the patient must have sufficient bone material to support the osseointegration of the implants. In the past, an oral surgeon might not have been able to place dental implants in patients with severe bone loss, or those patients would have needed to undergo a bone graft or augmentation surgery prior to the implant placement procedure.

A new dental implant technique known as All-on-4 helps patients to qualify for dental implant placement regardless of jawbone erosion. Nearly all candidates qualify for All-on-4 dental implants.

All-on-4 is a valuable resource for Dallas patients who want to take advantage of dental implants despite bone loss. With the All-on-4 technique, the oral surgeon places four dental implants toward the front of the jaw, where the jawbone wears away more slowly. The two outer dental implants can be angled inward below the gumline to maximize available bone.

Once they are in place, the four implants anchor an arch of artificial teeth that replaces the natural teeth. Not only are All-on-4 dental implants effective even for patients with bone loss, the implants help to prevent further bone loss. The implants replicate the roots of the teeth and hold the jawbone in place.

This procedure is significantly streamlined in comparison to earlier approaches to dental implants in patients with bone loss. All-on-4 dental implants are placed in a single appointment at the oral surgeon’s office. The patient is fitted with a temporary arch before leaving the office, giving the patient a full set of teeth in a single day. After the mouth has healed from the procedure, the patient is fitted for a stronger, permanent set of replacement teeth.
